Buy online. Backed locally. What should that mean?
A good equipment purchase combines the right product, clear availability and people you can reach before and after the sale.

Comparing prices online is sensible. Power equipment is a significant purchase, and the amount on the quote matters. Alongside that price, it is worth asking what happens between choosing a product and having a system you can depend on.
Is this the right version? Where is the stock? Who can answer a compatibility question? If something stops working, where does the support conversation start? These are practical buying questions, whether you are ordering one replacement part or equipment for a new installation.
Start with the job the equipment must do
A useful supplier should be interested in your application. The same broad product category can serve a house, a boat, a vehicle or a remote communications site, but the required voltage, charging sources, loads and installation conditions can be very different.
Send the exact part number if you know it. If you are replacing or expanding equipment, include the models already installed. If you do not yet know the product, describe the result you want. A short conversation before ordering can clarify what still needs checking.
A product quotation and a complete system design have different scopes. Ask which assumptions have been checked, what installation work is required and whether a competent installer needs to inspect the site before the specification is settled.
Make availability useful
For a planned job, an availability statement is useful when it tells you where the equipment is and what needs to happen before dispatch. Stock at a local warehouse, stock held by a supplier and an item available to order can lead to different delivery dates.
Before committing to the installation date, confirm:
- The exact model and quantity available for your order.
- Where it will dispatch from and the expected lead time.
- Delivery to your area, or an agreed collection arrangement.
- Whether the quote includes the accessories needed for the intended job.
- Who will contact you if availability or the dispatch plan changes.
Local supply can make collection, shipping and follow-up more convenient. The particular order still needs its own confirmed arrangements. A nearby address is useful; clear communication about your actual equipment is what lets you plan the work.
Know who supports the sale
Victron's technical-support guidance directs customers to the dealer they bought from, including online purchases, for product support and warranty claims. Its serial-number support route helps identify the original dealer. That makes the supplier relationship a buying consideration from the start.
Ask what the first support step looks like. Can you send a clear enquiry to a team familiar with the product? Where would equipment be assessed if it needed workshop attention? What is included in product support, and what needs a separately arranged site visit or installation service?
Good support also means being clear about the limits of an initial answer. A photograph may identify a component without proving the cause of a fault. A workshop can assess equipment, while an installation issue may need someone on site. You should understand the proposed next step and any costs requiring approval.
How to use the Thanda website
Our base is in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. The website brings selected Store products together with a route to our supply and workshop team. Browse the popular products, select the products you are considering and continue to a guest quote request through the Thanda Store.
You can request a quote without signing in. Add your delivery area and explain any compatibility questions or deadline. Our team will confirm price, availability and delivery with the quote. If you are still working out the equipment list, tell us what you are powering and what is already installed.
For installers and resellers, the same conversation can start with a bill of materials for the next job. For a system owner, it may start with one uncertain part number. The aim is straightforward: convenient online selection, a suitable purchase and a local team you know how to reach afterwards.
